Oak Barrel Aging Schedule
Here at THE WINERY, we provide the best quality wines, includs our unique Oak Barrel Aged wines.
"Oak" aging is becoming wine making’s hottest trend, which is not surprising when you consider some of the oldest and most respected European vinyards have used oak for centuries. The wine takes on some of the natural compounds in the barrel such as vanillin and wood tannins.
The addition of natural oak tannins that seep into the wine adds body, complexity and a plethora of aromas that make for tantilizing bouquets. Barrel aging allows slow oxidation which matures the wine, helping the various components meld together, giving it more structure and harmony, resulting in a robust wine, that awakens your taste buds.
The process is simple. We will start each batch with customer, after filtering process the wine will be transferred into the barrel to mature. After three to four months, we will contact customer to come back to the store and bottle it.
Since there is only limited space available (10 batches per oak barrel), we recommend you to reserve your wine earlier. The list below shows the oak barrel wine we have available for order.
Shiraz Australia
Alcohol: 14% Oak: Yes Body: Full
The wine shows a deep, crimson colour with purple undertones. The up-front aromatics reflect the typical dark fruit notes of blackberry, cherry, and plum, complimented by restrained black pepper which should become more pronounced with age. In the background are subtle layers of toast and vanilla from the oak. The aromas continue to the palate creating a soft, rounded expression of the fruits, spice, and oak. Tannins are in gentle harmony with the overall impression and create a well defined.
New Trek
Alcohol: 14.5% - Oak: Yes - Body: Full - Sweetness: Dry
Do you still remember 2011 limited release the Trek? It is back this summer. We are offering limited quantity to be aged in the oak barrel. Contact us to reserve it today. Opening with dark roasted notes of coffee and chocolate with a hint of blackberries, this wine balances the best of four classic varietals.  Enjoy your Trek wine with red meats, chicken pot pie, or with chamberlain cheese.
Shiraz, South Africa
Alcohol: 13.5% - Oak: Yes - Body: Full - Sweetness: Dry
The wine shows a deep, crimson colour with purple undertones. This Shiraz should be a very good match for a wide range of foods - steak, braised lamb shanks, pizza, chili con carne, pasta with tomato-based sauces.
Amarone, Italy
Alcohol: 14% - Oak: Yes - Body: Full - Sweetness: Dry
The wine is full-bodied, deep garnet colour and richly dry. Notes of plum, sour cherry, raspberry and vanilla gradually marry with anise, bitter chocolate, coffee, tobacco, leather and fig tones that develop with age. Long, lingering finish and a higher alcohol of 15%.
Grand Red, California
Alcohol: 14.5% - Oak: Yes - Body: Full - Sweetness: Dry
The Grand Red is a rich and full blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with ripe fruit notes of dark cherry, raspberry and black currant which are enhanced by oak and spice. The lush texture and soft tannins provide great mouth-feel. Juicy rich fruit, sweet spice and oak linger on the finish. Includes grape skins.
NEW! Forza, Veneto Italy
Alcohol: 16% - Oak: Yes - Body: Full - Sweetness: Dry
FORZA, which means strength in Italian, is a bold red blend from Veneto, Italy. It's a spectacular partnership of Corvina, Sangiovese and Barbera and includes grape skins for added depth. Winexpert has secured a limited quantity of superb quality juice and is able to offer this wine as a limited release expected to last about one year.
Malbec Argentina
Alcohol: 13% - Oak: Yes - Body: Medium to Full - Sweetness: Dry
The definitive star of Argentina. Our Malbec is distinguished by its dark, dense structure, full, rounded mouth-feel, prominent, lush flavours of ripe cherry, black currant and black berry, subtle notes of clove, vanilla and caramel with background suggestions of earthiness. The bright, vibrant edge is beautifully counter-balanced by oak.
